The first day of our artists in residency in Miyako Island, had a rush morning but everything went smooth!

The team member are all from different realm, visual artists, script writer, theatre director, dance choreographer, capoeira professor, it is going to interesting. We are going to need some time to know each others. For me, the most important part of this residency is the experience in Miyako with these artists.

I started curious when Ritsuko san described the Okinawa people are more sad, while the Miyako people tends to be more happy. I asked why and she explained it is about the history of Okinawa, and there was not much happened to Miyako. I’m looking forward to meet the folks in Miyako and listen to their story and life!

宮古島AIR 1日目。忙しい朝だったけど、すべて順調に！
今回集まっているのは、現代美術家、脚本家、演出家、振付家、カポエリスタと様々。僕たちにまず必要なのはお互いを知る時間です。今回のAIRで大事なのは、このアーティストたちと何を宮古島で体験するかということ。
今日面白かったのは、沖縄の人たちに比べて宮古島の人たちはとてものんびり幸せそうだと水野さんが言っていたこと。その理由を聞くと、水野さんは沖縄と宮古島の歴史が抱えるもの違いを話してくれた。
宮古島の人々に出会い、彼らの物語と人生を聴くのを楽しみにしています。
